Routes in Australia / New South Wales / St Ives
Rather steep track at times, descending into the valley, but otherwise an easy walk. There's a few causeways across Bare Creek to get there, so you might get your feet wet.
Take a copy of the map with you, as there a number of walking tracks in the area, you wouldn't want to take a wrong turn.
To get to The Cascades, stick to the big tracks (big enough for a 4WD to get through), and always take the right-hand way going down into the valley.
When you get there, you'll discover that it's a beautiful spot, one of the most scenic spots in Sydney. There would be crowds of people coming if it wasn't for the steep walk.
The perpetual sound of running water at the confluence of Bare Creek and Frenchs Creek is very relaxing, and we saw some ducks there.
If you feel like a longer walk, take the Bare Creek Track which forms a loop with the Lower Cambourne Track.
