Start with asteady climb of Maida Vale Road to the Roseneath shops, down Carton Gore Road before turning on to the path that leads up to the kids playground at the bottom of the Crescent.  Then it is on to the Southern walkway track that winds its way around the eastern part of Oriental Bay. A steep descent down Hay Street gets you to Oriental Parade. Cross over The group then crossed over Oriental Parade and proceedaround the Bay to Herd Street.  Continue around the waterfront to the start of Whitmore Street. Along Whitmore Street then up Bowen Street to the junction with Tinakori Road. Head up into the Botanical Gardens, then past the duck pond,children's playground, Carter Observatory to the Cable car. Take the walkway down to Rawhiti Terrace, Glasgow Street, to the University. Then down to the Boyd Wilson field before reaching the top of Vivian Street. Follow Vivian Street crossing over Cambridge and Kent Terraces and up Pire Street to the playground beside the bus tunnel. Then follow the Mt Victoria tracks that lead on to Palliser Road. The steps on Grafton Road lead down to Maida Vale Road and the start point.
